The Tow Truck Crash
As reported by the Times-Picayune, an out-of-control tow truck plowed through a steel fence surrounding a shopping center parking lot in New Orleans in early October 2016.
Tragically, the collision killed three people who were waiting at a bus stop near the fence. A pedestrian and the tow truck’s driver were also injured in the collision. Witnesses described the truck as being completely out of control.
The report goes on to state that the towing company that owns the tow truck has engaged in questionable behavior in the days following the crash. According to the report, the company has removed the names of its corporate officers from its official corporate records on file with the Louisiana Secretary of State.
The report also says that the owners of the towing company, who are registered as being the owners of several towing companies and other businesses, have been named in other unrelated lawsuits, in which they are accused of hiring drivers with poor driving records.
In one of the lawsuits, which is unrelated to the fatal tow truck crash, the plaintiff alleges that the defendant driver’s record includes nine traffic violations, including speeding and driving without a license.
