A horrific crash on Thursday, 27 August 2020, caused the closure of all lanes on Florida’s Turnpike in Martin County for several hours. The early morning accident involving two semi-trucks
happened at Mile Marker 133 in the northbound lanes near SW Martin Downs Blvd, according to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.
Impact of the 2 Semi-Trucks Accident
Although there were no injuries, the crash left the highway covered in debris and gravel. From the images shared by Martin County Sheriff’s Office
, one car could be seen flipped upside down on the side of the Turnpike, while several others could be seen sitting loosely on the wrecked tow truck. Across the road, there was also the other semi-truck that appeared to have turned over and spilled gravel onto the roadway.
As the crew picked gravel to clear the road, motorists using Florida’s Turnpike were directed to detour at SW Martin Downs Blvd and head west to I-95 as an alternate. However, those coming from Palm Beach County were allowed to get on I-95 at Indiantown Road.
